1. How did you cross paths with 1-StopAsia? And tell us how you got started.

I was really tired an angry from my job in the call center. Even though I was not talking directly to clients, the work atmosphere and the management team literally pushed me towards a heart attack every day. So I decided to look for a new challenge, away from the call center world and in to an industry I’ve never worked in before. I knew I wanted to work in the B2B environment, as it has always been my passion working with companies since I was a kid. I pictured myself going to seminars and meetings, negotiating with people in suits and ties. The very thought of this excites me.

And here I was, looking for my next challenge in Jobs.bg and the position was a perfect fit for what I was looking for. What got me really impressed was the story about Don working at his old desk and having the principle on never taking on debt, so the company can last forever.

P.S. On the back of this, I personally think some drastic measures have to be taken towards employee retention, so this dream of his can become a reality in the long run. We’re currently taking a lot of work from our clients and the high turnover is literally pushing our growth back. I might have some ideas about this, however this is a discussion for another time.

2. What were your initial thoughts about the language industry before you started? And what are your thoughts now?

That it is very boring. I still think it’s boring, however I now understand that the people working in it are not J

3. What do you love the most about your job?

Mostly the team. There is no situation we can’t get out of, we always help each other when that is needed and it’s really fun to work around such people.
The second thing is the working hours, because I can do so much with the rest of my day, that most people don’t have the chance to. During the day other businesses are working and I can buy whatever I need and do a side gig with whomever I want. I’ve never had such a great work-life balance before in my life.

The third thing is the experience in the B2B field and the connections I get through my work, because they will be invaluable for me when I decide to start my own business in the future.

4. How would you describe 1-StopAsia to an outsider?

You want to know what it’s like to get 8 hours of sleep every day? Join our company and you will! And forget having fights with brainless Englishmen for a couple of pounds over the phone. Everything goes on through e-mail, you have time to think, relax and then answer. The team is great and will always have you covered. Wanna come?

5. What advice would you give to candidates who want to join our company?

Better be prepared for a lot of interviews. Research the company and know it’s values, mission and vision before you apply. Display a can-do attitude, even if you have no idea what they’re talking about when they explain how the business works. Let go of your ego and be committed to learning.
