1-StopAsia Celebrates Qing Ming Festival!
In many Asian countries, citizens celebrate and pay respect to loved ones whom have passed. In Chinese culture, that day is known as the Qingming Festival. This year, the festival will begin on April 4th and wrap up on the 6th. Although the festival falls on the 5th, and is a one-day holiday, the people of China can take a three-day holiday (April 4 to 6) because the Qingming Festival connect into the weekends.
This holiday not only suggests a time for people to go outside and enjoy the greenery of springtime, but it is mostly noted for its connection with Chinese ancestral veneration and the tending of family graves. The young and old use the day to pray for their ancestors, sweep the tombs and offer food, tea, wine, and/or other miscellaneous items. Many people also go on family outings, sing, dance, fly kites, and burn paper, incense, or firecrackers.
