2012 10th Biennial AMTA Conference

1-Stop Translation returns from 10th Biennial AMTA Conference 2012

1-Stop Translation is pleased to announce its return from the Tenth Biennial Conference of the Association for Machine Translation in the Americas. This event was held at the Catamaran Resort Hotel, in San Diego California, Sunday, October 28 through Thursday, November 1, 2012 which followed the 53rd Annual Conference of the American Translators Association (ATA).

AMTA is an association dedicated to anyone interested in the translation of languages using computers in some way. This includes people with translation needs, commercial system developers, researchers, sponsors, and people studying, evaluating, and understanding the science of machine translation (MT) and educating the public on important scientific techniques and principles involved. It provides an opportunity for commercial developers, users–both professional translators and casual MT users–and research scientists to meet in a convivial atmosphere and share ideas, dreams, and hopes.” (AMTA, 2012)

This year AMTA incorporated several key highlights into their conference including; a tutorial by Jost Zetzsche, on “Using MT in Today’s CAT Tools”, workshops on MT Post-Editing Technology and practice, and a MT Technology Showcase Exhibition.

This year our company was represented by CEO and founder Don Shin, “I was surprised by how fast the MT technology has gotten better and better. In contrary to wide spread worries in our industry, I believe it will offer us a lot of new market like MT post editing jobs or MT technology consulting. However, we need to invest a lot of time and money to keep abreast to this trend.”
